Il contributo intende riflettere sull’evoluzione del concetto di sostenibilità alla luce del Green Deal europeo, interrogandosi sulla reale portata di alcuni recenti interventi adottati in nome della semplificazione, come il c.d. Pacchetto Omnibus. L’analisi tenta di comprendere se tali misure rappresentino effettivamente un’operazione di semplificazione o se, al contrario, preludano a una forma di deregolazione che rischia di compromettere gli obiettivi alla base del Green Deal. In questo contesto, si riflette criticamente sul concetto di “competitività sostenibile” e sul rischio di non perseguire in maniera efficace l’idea stessa di sostenibilità configurata dal Green Deal, finendo per pregiudicare il processo di transizione ecologica nel suo complesso.

This contribution aims to reflect on the evolution of the concept of sustainability in light of the European Green Deal, questioning the real scope of some recent measures adopted in the name of simplification, such as the socalled Omnibus package. The analysis attempts to understand whether these measures actually represent an operation of simplification or whether, on the contrary, they prelude a form of deregulation that risks compromising the objectives underlying the Green Deal. In this context, the analysis offers a critical reflection on the notion of “sustainable competitiveness” and highlights the risk that the failure to fully implement the underlying principles of sustainability, as outlined in the Green Deal, may ultimately compromise the ecological transition in its entirety.
